Apple is finally closing in on an India launch for Apple Pay. Apparently, they are aiming for a June/July rollout.
As an iPhone user, I’m excited about finally using my Apple Watch to "tap and pay" at stores, but I’m also skeptical. We already have the best payment system in the world with UPI.
But Why would anyone use Apple Pay (which requires a credit/debit card) over a simple UPI QR scan that works at everywhere?

Yes, it is finally happening. Reports from this week confirm that Apple is in advanced talks with NPCI, Visa, and Mastercard for a phased rollout. But here is the catch that most people are missing: Apple Pay in India will NOT be a UPI killer (at least not at start).
I bet the RBI will make them store all the data locally, which is why they delayed it so long. Apple hates following local rules, but India is too big a market to ignore now
