Mdi liked this

Cyclone Ditwah is moving steadily toward the Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and South Andhra Pradesh coastline, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue red and orange alerts for the region.

According to IMD, the cyclone is expected to bring:

  • Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in coastal districts
  • Wind speeds strong enough to damage temporary structures
  • Rough sea conditions, dangerous for fishing boats
  • Possible power cuts, flooding, and travel disruption

Local authorities have advised people in low-lying coastal areas to stay indoors, avoid sea travel, and follow evacuation instructions if required. Fishermen have been strictly warned not to venture into the sea until conditions improve.

Schools in several districts are preparing for potential closures depending on the cyclone’s landfall timing.

Cyclone Ditwah is currently being tracked closely, and updates will continue throughout the day as it moves closer to the coast.
